“High technology has done us one great service: It has retaught us the delight of performing simple and primordial tasks - chopping wood, building a fire, drawing water from a spring”~Edward Abbey

My latest DIY project...
Last night (Friday, October 9th) at approximately 8:25 PM Central Time my wife and I delivered our new daughter, Lucy Belle, in the comfort of our own home 40 minutes BEFORE the midwives had a chance to arrive. It was the single greatest experience of my life. Both mother and baby are doing great, and at the moment they are napping.

"My latest DIY project"...LOLLL! That was funny! Congratulations on the baby girl. My friend told me some sage advice I have never forgotten when we had our girl, "...you will love her so much you would eat the corn out of her poop."
Congrats! That is awesome!
Congratulations - she is beautiful! I told Greg that if we ever accidentally have another one, I'm having it at home. I'm so glad all went well!
Maybe next year the stars will align and you can bring your brood to Turkeypalooza!
Thanks to all of you.
Emily, I'll coach Greg if you like! I hope to make it there too!
Mad cool! DIY LOL!
Congrats:D

CONGRATULATIONS!
Re the pointed sticks. These are called spunks, and they are wood splints tipped with sulphur. When using a tinderbox, after the tinder has caught the spark ans started smouldering, if you touch the end of the sulphur splint to the smouldering embre, the sulphur will catch fire. You can then light a candle or your fire.
To make these spunks you melt a little sulphur in a tin lid or similar and dip the tip of the splint (pointed stick) into the moulten sulphur. It will dry hard.
Do not use too much sulphur on the splint or it will drip fire, and do not breath in the fumes.
Best wishes and regards, Le Loup.
